The exhibition design is done by Dutch jewelry designer and co-founder of Droog Design, Gijs Bakker, who creates a dialog with international designers about jewelry and its place in the modern world. As expected, I was astounded and blown away by the ornate displays of fine jewelry and art pieces throughout the small gallery. I was especially impressed by the Bling Bling piece by Frank Tjepkema, a gold-plated steel pendant of seven wafer-thin layers of overlapping logos, meant to represent our new religion and passion: shopping! It was by far my favorite exhibit in the gallery out of the many.

The JA New York jewelry show is the premier international jewelry event that brings exhibitors and retailers from around the world together in New York City, the jewelry capital of the world. The JA New York show dates back to 1906 when its predecessor, the American National Retail Jewelers of America (ANRJA) was founded. The legacy of the ANRJA show has been carried through JA New York, as it celebrates 100 years of excellence and service to the jewelry industry. The JA New York Shows are produced by the National Jeweler Network (NJN) a world-class trade show producer and publisher of the industry leading National Jeweler magazine.

The Association for the Study of Jewelry and Related Arts, LLC is an organization dedicated to the advancement of jewelry studies in schools, museums, and institutions of higher learning. It is also committed to the dissemination of knowledge to anyone who is interested in the history of jewelry. ASJRA takes a broad approach to the subject, seeking to understand and place jewelry within a variety of contexts, including from the ancient past to present day, the decorative arts, and fashion.

One of our most important activities is organizing an annual conference as a forum for curators, academic historians, and scholars and artists to present new and interesting information about jewelry. Anyone who is interested in jewelry will enjoy attending the conference. It's a chance to learn and network with people who collect, appraise, study and research jewelry history.

This year’s conference, One More Time: Jewelry Fakes, Revivals, Recycling and Reproductions will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at a prestigious private club in midtown New York City.

New York Antique Jewelry & Watch Show Jul 23–26 • New York, NY • commercial show

A mid-summer weekend does not seem to be the time to go major jewelry shopping. However, the last weekend in July is when international jewelers converge on New York City to prepare for the upcoming Fall jewelry buying season.

The five-day New York Antique Jewelry and Watch Show opened on Friday past at the Metropolitan Pavilion (125 West 18th Street, NYC 10011). This first-time show is open to both wholesale and retail customers which in this closely guarded industry is a first in New York. This pavilion location show is only part of a citywide wholesale jewelry extravaganza for jewelers and retailers to show and shop the latest designs and collections.

This weekend (plus yesterday and today, Tuesday) is the Bryant Park of the Jewelry and Watch world without the front row seats and paparazzi. It is also a time for serious, devoted, dedicated, savvy, bedecked, and beblinged buyers to bargain hunt.

Each month year round, the Scott Antique Market comes to the Atlanta Expo Centers where two cavernous buildings are filled with displays over flowing into our large outdoor exhibits.

In Columbus, Ohio the show is held monthly November through March at the Ohio Expo Center where the buildings are filled with vendors displaying everything imaginable. These shows are a treasure hunter's paradise with over 2400 vendor booths in Atlanta and over 800 in Columbus offering the finest selection of investment quality antiques in the country. You can find a huge selection of gold, silver jewelry, antique pottery, glassware, furniture, and so much more at the Scott Antique Market. This is what makes our shows a can't miss event for any collector. The Scott Antique Markets are the largest series of indoor antique shows in the world. These shows are among the best resources of merchandise for your home, shop and for internet vendors. You will find hundreds of thousands of antiques for all ages. Scott Antique Market is Americas favorite treasure hunt. Have you found your treasure yet?
